Light The Philodendron Rojo Congo flourishes in moderate to bright indirect light indoors. The plant tolerates low light while too much direct light will damage the leaves with yellow burn marks. Water Give moderate amounts of water and allow the top 3-5cm of soil to dry out between watering sessions. Rather give too little water than too much, and make sure the soil provides easy drainage so the water can drain out from the bottom of the pot. Temperature & Humidity The optimum temperature for a Rojo Congo is between 25-30°C, so it typically performs well as an indoor plant in areas with a moderate to warm climate. This plant is cold-sensitive and needs to be kept in a relatively warm environment since it can suffer damage in extremely low temperatures. Maintenance Feeding your Philodendron Rojo Congo with slow-release fertiliser about 2-3 times per year will help it reach its best potential. The best feeding times are in summer and spring rather than during the winter months. Depending on how fast the plant grows, you can repot your Rojo Congo every 12-18 months. If its roots don’t need a larger pot, you can still treat them to fresh, nutrient-rich soil.
